Diana Raabe, Jul 1, 2008, 7:44PM EDTRead Affinity!
I haven't seen Fingersmith, but will look for it. (We've been contemplating joining NetFlix for awhile now. ) Sopfa Coppola wrote, produced and directed Lost in Translation, which I thought was quite good. She would probably do well with a Waters book.
P.S. Read Affinity... -
Diana Raabe, Jun 23, 2008, 1:08PM EDTChris - Velvet and Fingersmith were my two favorites! You will love Affinity (I'm guessing). The most unusual stretch Waters makes, in my opinion, is with Night Watch. For some reason, I really wanted more from that book - even though it did receive very positive acclaim. It's possible that many of the people who read and loved Night Watch hadn't read Waters before. (?)
Did you see the PBS version of Velvet? I missed most of it but can't imagine it did justice to Waters. Incidentally, there are rumors that someone is making a major motion picture of the same name that is due out in 2009. (But again, I'd be surprised if it was anywhere near as good as the book!) -
Diana Raabe, Jun 19, 2008, 11:00PM EDTWhat's your favorite Sarah Waters book? I've read everything she's written and am curious to know what you liked best!

Donna O., May 17, 2008, 2:18AM EDTIt is inhumane, in my opinion, to force people who have a genuine medical need for coffee to wait in line behind people who apparently view it as some kind of recreational activity.
